Welcome

Groundwork for establishment of the Weymouth Pines Classical Academy is being completed by the Founding Group, with plans to open in August of 2025, with grades K-4. One grade per year will be added until grades K-12 are in place.

The school will be based on the proven Hillsdale College K-12 Charter School Initiative model.

We seek to develop the minds and hearts of young people through an American Classical content-rich education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in principles of moral character and civic virtue; in an orderly, supportive environment.

Our goal is to develop the moral and intellectual integrity, skills, habits, and virtues upon which independent, responsible and joyful lives are built, in the firm belief that such lives are the basis for a free and flourishing republic.

Specialization for a successful career is an important pursuit; however, we believe that narrowing K-12 students’ focus vocationally before building a context of their heritage robs students of the foundation necessary for a fulfilled life, whatever their career path. In grades K-12 vocational training options may be offered.

There is no cost to attend the Academy, because it is a charter school.

Charter schools are public schools of choice which are authorized by the State Board of Education and operated by independent local non-profit boards of directors. State and local tax dollars provide operations funding – but no capital funding - for charter schools.

Admission to charter schools is random, through open enrollment and lottery.

Charter schools cannot discriminate in admissions, charge tuition, or associate with any religion or religious group.  Charter schools operate with freedom from many regulations and curricula which govern district public schools, but charter schools are held accountable through the State assessment and accountability system, per North Carolina statute.  Click here to see statute.
